Selvaraghavan-Dhanush requires no introduction as their previous films have been colossal that dates back from ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’. Moreover, the musical realms in their movies have been the greatest highlights. ‘Mayakkam Enna’ completely belongs to the Dhanush and Selvaraghavan as the duo brothers have done more than what they usually commit themselves towards their projects. They have swayed to the best with their voices and lyrics.
1. Naan Sonnathum Mazhai VandhuchaVocals: Naresh Iyer, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan
The album opens with a pumping number that brings us Naresh Iyer in a different style. Usually Naresh Iyer goes for a sweet mellifluous kind of songs. For the first time, we hear him shifting the paradigms and crooning it in a different style. The singer had earlier worked on similar pattern with A.R. Rahman’s Telugu song ‘Ammathale’ (Komaram Puli). G.V. Prakash has done an extraordinary job with the mixing of sound, which conduces more to the embellishment of this song.
2. Pirai Thedum Vocals: G.V. Prakash, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Dhanush
‘Pirai Thedum’ begins with a slow-paced note on fortepianos that slightly resembles the famous theme music of ‘Exorcist’. The vocalizing portions do carry the traces of ‘Anal Mela’ while the rhythmic pattern follows the style of ‘Kadhal Vandhal’ (Iyarkai). More than acclaiming the song to be a superb chemistry between Dhanush and Richa, it’s best to ennoble this number as a splendid stroke by G.V. Prakash and his sweetheart Saindhavi. No wonder, G.V. Prakash is always known for coming up with resplendent melodies and this one isn’t an exception.
3. Voda Voda VodaVocals: Dhanush
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan
So simple in every aspect, but it gives a clear impression that this is a situational song and will surely evoke some good laughter with the visuals. Selvaraghavan hasn’t strained himself over the lyrics as they are so naturalistic and very easily gets into our mind. Sweet and Simple always becomes the major factors of attraction. Just listen to the song once and you’ll have the lyrics by heart.
4. Mayakkam Enna Theme Music G.V. Prakash is always on his best while delivering signature music for the films. This one starts slowly with a smooth and mild touch followed by some electrifying performance on instrumentals.
5. Ennena Seidhom Vocals: Harish Raghavendra
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan
A big surprise from Selvaraghavan. Having penned lyrics with so jovialness and youthful quotients, he jumps into the spiritual line. No matter which religion you belong to, just start your day with this song and it’s gonna be very special. So captivating in all aspects is this song and you’ll never stop listening to this number over and again. This song is a blessing to all the listeners.
6. Kadhal En Kadhal Vocals: Selvaraghavan, Dhanush
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan
Dhanush gets down the lanes identifying himself as an ordinary guy having failed in love and so is Selvaraghavan. The brothers become pals here sharing their feelings. A boy deplored with the love failure and his friends consoling him. The song will surely grab the attention of the youth groups and you can expect some big celebration in theatres.
On the whole ‘Mayakkam Enna’ songs have a mix of classy and mass numbers. It’s yet another spectacular stroke from G.V. Prakash in collaboration with Selvaraghavan and Dhanush.
Verdict: Yet another brilliant stoke by G.V. Prakash
