Muran - First Tamil worldwide release by UTV

 

Cheran-Prasanna starrer Muran is the first Tamil film to be released worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures, one of India's most prominent production and distribution houses, through its own network of theatre chains. UTV has earlier released more that 32 Hindi films using their network. Muran, which is all set to hit screen on September 30, will be released in USA, UK, Europe, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and other countries directly by UTV. The regular overseas distributors of Tamil Cinema are always limited, but with Muran, UTV broke the myth by getting good chains of theatres across the globe.

The film is directed by Rajjan Madhav, son of acclaimed Malayalam music composer Raveendran, who has earlier worked as co-director with Mysskin in Anjaathaey, Nandhalala and Yudham Sei. Rajjan's twin brother Sajjan Madhav has composed its music. Cheran and Prasanna play the lead roles in this big budget film which also features Jayaprakash, Haripriya, Nikhita and Prathap Pothan in prominent roles.

Jeeva - Mysskin's Mugamoodi will have sequel (2 parts)

 

UTV's first superhero project in Tamil, Mugamoodi, which is to be directed by Mysskin, is going to have a sequel as well. Mugamoodi carries a long tale that it can be split into two parts.

Mugamoodi shoot is going to start soon and the first part would be canned by using state-of-the-art technology. The film is all about a super hero who attempts to eradicate corruption in the society. Though it carries a message for the society the film is said to be an action – adventure family entertainer. Jeeva is going to share screen space with hot-looking Mumbai girl Pooja Hegde. Actor Narain plays the role of a baddie in the film.

Mysskin is engaging stunt men from Hong Kong and a Los Angeles based company is going to give the latest special effects for the film. K, who worked for Yudham Sei is going to score the music.

Jeeva confirming this said “Yes, we are planning to make the film in two parts as it is larger than life story which has ample extent for action and romance”.

Mugamoodi will be Jeeva's big summer release in 2012.

Danush - Chimbudevan film titled Mareesan

 

We have earlier reported that Dhanush has signed a film which is to be directed by Chimbudevan. Now have some interesting tidbits about the film for Dhanush fans.

The film is reportedly said to be a period fantasy entertainer and is tentatively titled as Maareesan. The film is set in 12th century BC where Dhanush will be seen in a all new look. Chimbudevan impressed Dhanush by bringing fantasy as the key point in the script. Not only Dhanush, UTV also liked the script and has immediately given their nod to produce this big budget film.

The budget of the film will be around Rs 30 Crore and sets a record of Dhanush’s high budget film so far in his career. Maareesan is the first fantasy period entertainer in Tamil and UTV is all thrilled about this venture.

Chimbudevan’s ace production designer Muthuraj will be erecting sets for the film. The heroine and the rest of the cast are yet to be finalized. The principle photography of the film will kick start from December.

Maareesan in the hands of hit combo Chimbudevan- Dhanush-UTV is set to strike gold at the box office.
