Silk Smitha’s story in Tamil
Abhirami Ramanathan has procured the distribution rights of The Dirty Picture. He will distribute the film in Tamil Nadu and Kerala regions. The Dirty Picture is due to be released tomorrow and its Tamil version will also hit the screens simultaneously.The film is based on the life of late actress Silk Smitha and therefore producer Ekta Kapoor has decided to release the Tamil version to attract the audiences to the theatres. Vidya Balan essays the role of Silk Smitha in the film with Naseeruddin Shah playing an important role. Milan Luthria has directed this film.
Vikram’s ‘Rajapattai’ ready to hit Hyderabad screens
Vikram’s popularity in Tollywood doesn’t need an explanation. Apparently to cash in on it, his forthcoming film ‘Rajapattai’ will be released in Telugu too. “Dubbing works are already over,” say sources. Titled ‘Veedinthe’ (meaning ‘he is like that’), the Telugu version is expected to hit the screens simultaneously with the Tamil original, that is in the last week of December.An audio launch is also being planned in Hyderabad.
With Deeksha Seth, who is a popular face in Andhra Pradesh playing the heroine, ‘Rajapattai’ also stars veteran filmmaker K Vishwanath, Reemma Sen and Shriya Sen, and all have carved a niche for themselves among the Telugu audience.
“Thanks to these factors, the makers firmly that the film would strike a chord in Andhra Pradesh too. Rajapattai is a full-fledged commercial entertainer which will be a treat to the audience,” sources say.
Karthi & Kajal signs up for Bru
Pretty actress Kajal Agarwal has signed up for Bru instant coffee endorsement. Actor Karthi will be seen with Kajal in the ad and already it’s being aired in all the channels in the south. The duo has turned out to be good pair with the Tamil film Naan Mahaan Alla later dubbed as Naa Peru Shiva in Telugu, which set the cash registers ringing.
Incidentally, Suriya and Jyothika are the brand ambassadors of its competitor brand Nescafe and Karthi has signed up for Bru locking horns with Suriya. Noted poet Vairamuthu has tweeted that he has written a “soul stirring song” for Mani Ratnam’s next film.The tweet says the song will be a melody tuned by AR Rahman.

Vikram’s Thaandavam hit the floors
Vikram and AL Vijay’s second combo movie Thaandavam was launched on Wednesday (November 30). Saranya Ponvannan, Jagapathi Babu, GV Prakash, Alagappan, Mysskin, Delhi Ganesh and others were present.Prior to the shooting, the lead actors will take part in photo sessions. UTV’s Dhananjayan confirmed the news and said that it will commence shortly. The first look of the film will be released soon after the completion of the initial photo shoots.
Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu is all set to team up with Vikram in his forthcoming bilingual movie Thaandavam. He will be seen in the role of a baddie in the movie directed by AL Vijay. Anushka Shetty and Amy Jackson are the leading ladies of the movie.
The movie brings the successful combination of Deiva Thirumagal – Vikram, Anushka, director AL Vijay and GV Prakash Kumar together. Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Thaandavam will be shot in Delhi, US and Chennai.
Thaandavam is said to be loosely inspired by Hollywood flick The Bourne Identity. Vikram’s character named Shiva will be doing the role of a retrograde amnesia patient, which was played by Matt Damon in the original. While Anushka performs the character of Vikram’s wife, Amy Jackson plays the role of his girlfriend.
Bollywood actress to star in Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan
Soon after Anushka Shetty’s name started doing rounds that she was being considered for one of the female leads in Kochadaiyaan, there comes a new rumour about the leading lady of the movie. If reports are to be believed, the makers of the film are looking out for a Bollywood face to cast opposite Rajinikanth.It seems the makers of the movie are planning to cast a Bollywood face to have larger appeal. Though, the names of the contenders have not been revealed, the movie bosses have reportedly approached a few top Bollywood actresses. They are expected to finalise the cast by this weekend and the announcement on the female leads will be made immediately.
Kochadaiyaan is loosely inspired by Pandya king, Kochadaiyan Rana Dheeran. The movie directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth is being made by the ‘motion capturing’ technique. It is produced by Eros International & Media One and expected to hit the screens in August 2012.

Amala Paul on song
The Mynaa girl is on song. Amala Paul is currently one of the busiest actors in Kollywood.
After delivering stellar performances in Mynaa and Deivathirumagal, Amala is busy shooting for Vettai, Muppozhudum Un Karpanai and Kaadhalil Sodappuvadu Eppadi.

Vivekh has ventured to do a role with negative shades in Marichaa, a Kannada film. A name to reckon with in Tamil cinema, he has acted as comedian in several hundred films.Asked whether he would venture to do the lead role, Vivekh says, ‘ I want to remain as comedian because comedy is an important ingredient of a film. No audience goes to toilet when a comedian appears on the screen. The audience goes to toilet or for smoking if they do not like a stunt sequence or song sequence’.
Asked about his ambition, the veteran comedian says, ‘ I want to complete green mission set by former president APJ Abdul Kalam who had advised me to encourage the planting of saplings. He advised me to promote the planting of saplings through films. As per his advice, I have joined hands with various non-governmental organisations. The planting of saplings programme began six months ago. The target was to plant 10 lakhs saplings but we have planted 11 lakh saplings. Kalam Sir will plant twelfth lakh sapling at a tsunami hit village near Kadalur by end of January 2012′
