RJ Shiva busy with 5 projects in hand

 

RJ Shiva is on cloud nine, well, why wouldn't he be? The effervescent personality has signed five new projects apart from his plans of wielding the megaphone in the near future as well!

It is now quite known that RJ Shiva will be doing a film with Sundar C, a multi-starrer featuring him alongside Vimal, Anjali and Bindhu Madhavi. The movie has now been christened 'Masala' and the director is currently busy zeroing in on the locations.

Gnana Rajashekaran, whose 'Barathi' won multiple national awards has signed Mirchi Shiva for his next. Speaking on this Shiva expressed that although the film will have no dearth for comedy, it will be based on an entirely different genre.

He will also be doing a film with Amudhan and a film with director Venkat Prabhu, who has earlier delivered laugh riots with Shiva.

Apart from these four films, a newbie, Arvind who will be donning the director's hat has signed Shiva for another laugh riot! The film has been tentatively titled 'Ulta'.

It looks like because of Shiva's busy schedule filled with comic entertainers, his plans for wielding the megaphone will see a postponement for quite sometime and go on floors only after he finishes each of these projects. Good going, Shiva!

Karthi's Saguni focuses on 2G spectrum

 

Karthi's forthcoming movie Saguni not only takes potshot at the current political affairs but also on the corruption. Well, the movie will particularly throw light on corporate lobbyist Nira Radia's role in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

It is said that director Shankar Dayal has included Nira Radia's 2G episode in Saguni. The story reveals the nexus between politician and businessmen. Sources add that how the alleged deals were struck with journalists, telecom companies will be shown in the forthcoming Tamil movie.

Talking about Karthi's character, Shankar Dayal said that the actor's role has negative shades but he is a do-gooder and wants to work for the change in the society. However, the filmmaker says that even though Saguni  is a political satire, yet it has all the commercial elements.

Saguni also features Pranitha, Santhanam, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Manobala, Kota Srinivasa Rao and others in the cast.

Rajini’s Trust administrator receives death threat

 

Rajinikanth's Educational Trust is located at Teynampet in Chennai. This Trust's administrator complained to the police that he received a murder threat from a Mumbai-based financier.

It is said that the financier threatened to do away with the administrator if the loan amount 2.50 crores is not settled immediately.

Following this complaint, the police have arrested financier Sushil Gupta. The case is under investigation.

Dhanush Vs Simbu in Box-Office (Mayakkam Enna vs Osthi)

Dhanush and Silamabarasan are heading for a clash on historical day. The actors, who backed out of Diwali race due to the releases of 7aam Arivu and Velayudham, are heading for the Box Office battle on 11-11-11 (November 11, 2011).

Well, Dhanush starrer Mayakkam Enna and Simbu's Osthi are reportedly hitting the screens on November 11. It is reported that the makers of both the films are keen to release on this rare day. Incidentally, it is a Friday and they believe that it could be the right time to release their films. The interesting part of the story is that in both the Tamil movies, actress Richa Gangopadhyay is playing the female lead roles.

It may be recalled that the movie bosses, who were supposed to release Mayakkam Enna-Osthi on October 26, reportedly decided to delay the movies to avoid unnecessary clashes with Vijay's Velayudham and Surya starrer 7aam Arivu.

While Mayakkam Enna is directed by Selvaraghavan, Osthi - the remake of Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg - is remade in Tamil by Dharani.

Vishal's Samaran follows 7am Arivu way to China

Kollywood audience will witness more of China in coming days. While AR Murugadoss is ready to show the Tamil connection with China in his forthcoming movie 7aam Arivu, Vishal and Trisha Krishnan's Samaran will explore the beautiful locales of the neighbouring country.

Sources have said that a few songs and some key scenes of Samaran will be shot in China. Though, the makers of the film are yet to get the permission for shooting, they are confident that their request will be approved by the concerned authorities.

It is reported that Vishal Krishna will be seen in the role of a guide for trekkers. Situations in the film force him to go to China and discover new things, say reports. Other details about Samaran are under wraps. The film directed by Thiru also features Prakash Raj in an important role.

Aadhi's guest role in Arya-Naren starrer Kadavul Paathi Mirugam Paathi?

 

There were reports some time back that Arya and Naren would play lead roles in a movie to be directed by Mollywood filmmaker Raj Menon and Aadhi, the ‘Eeram’ and ‘Mirugam’ actor, would play an all important guest role in it. He has cleared the air on it now.

“It was true that Raj Menon, who is a relative to Sindhu Menon (his co-star in ‘Eeram’) approached me for a cameo in the Arya-Naren starrer (Kadavul Paathi Mirugam Paathi). I accepted the offer since the story was interesting. But there was no communication from Raj after that,” he says.

Saying that he would be happy to do guest roles if the script and his character impresses him, Aadhi says with a smile, “I am not so adamant to play lead roles alone. All that I want is to be part of meaningful movies which offer me challenging characters.”

On his next, ‘Aravaan’, he says, “I am eagerly looking forward for the film’s release. Director Vasanthabalan is an extremely talented filmmaker who has shaped up the movie in a beautiful way. I am sure that Aravaan would be a turning point in my acting career.”

Samaran - action packed thriller for Vishal

Vishal's next film Samaran, an action packed thriller is all set to commence shoot in the direction of Thiru. The duo has earlier teamed up for 'Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai'. The latest news is Vishal plays the role of a forest trekker and the story is set in deep forests.

The first schedule of shoot will commence from 27^th October in Chalakudy forests in Kerala. Later, the unit will fly to China for filming major portions and the makers are presently on plans to get the permission for the film.

Samaran has Trisha as the leading lady and Prakash Raj in a vital role. Vishal's brother Vikram Krishna is producing the film under their home banner GK Film Corporation.  Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music while Richard Nathan is handling the cinematography.

Sundar C named his film 'Masala' for Vimal-Mirchi Shiva

After a brief hiatus, Director Sundar.C is making his comeback with a new film titled Masala. Touted as a comedy entertainer laced with action, Masala casts Vimal, 'Mirchi' Shiva, Anjali and Bindhu Madhavi in the lead roles.

Sundar has left to Kumbakonam for scouting the locales of this new venture as the story is set in a village. Masala will be produced by Kushboo under the banner of Avni Cinemax. The film will start rolling its camera shortly and the actor-filmmaker will wrap up the entire shooting of Masala in a single schedule.

The movie also casts a popular actor in a cameo. However, the details are still under wraps as the director doesn't want to reveal it to maintain the suspense element.

Osthi’s release tentatively on November 18th

Osthi will not be a Diwali release as the music launch is yet to take place and a few other post-production works are still in progress. Industry sources say that film's most probable release date would be November 18th.

Osthi was one of the most expected films for Diwali as it stars Silambarasan in the lead and the release date being put off at the last moment is a sort of disappointment for al movie buffs especially Silambarasan's fans.
This film, incidentally, is a remake of the Hindi flick Dabangg. Richa plays Silambarasan's onscreen pair in Osthi. Direction is by Dharani.

Vettai confirmed for December 23 worldwide release

 

UTV Motion Pictures and Lingusamy's Thiruppathi Brothers have firmed up the release date of their Vettai.
It will be a Christmas release likely on December 23, worldwide.

Vettai a multi-starrer with Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul is directed by Lingusamy and is an out and out mass family action entertainer.

The music of the film by Yuvan Shankar Raja is going to be launched in a big way in November.

The film revolves around two brothers Madhavan a cop and his younger brother Arya a jolly good ruffian and they fall in love with two bubbly sisters Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul.

The film set in Thoothukudi milieu promises to be a fun ride.

A Woman Sues The Distributor Of DRIVE Over "Misleading"

Now this is a totally absurd news, but here it goes: A Michigan woman named Sarah Deming is suing the distributor of Nicolas Winding Refn's DRIVE, as well as the movie theater where she went to watch it. The reason of her filing the lawsuit? She claims the misleading trailer of DRIVE which seemed to promise more action than it actually delivered!

According to Deming's lawsuit, she claims "DRIVE bore very little similarity to a chase, or race action film…having very little driving in the motion picture". Apart from that, she also claimed there were "extreme gratuitous defamatory dehumanizing racism directed against members of the Jewish faith." If that's not absurd enough, Deming's lawyer is claiming that the anti-climactic trailer is a violation of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act. (now this is new to me).

Deming is now seeking for a refund, as well as "an end to misleading movie trailers". Wow, whatever that means, this is seriously one of the most absurd cases I've ever heard.

Originally known as TROLLJEGEREN, this Norwegian found-footage genre movie was a big hit in its native Norway when it released late last year. Since then, it's been buzzing strong all over the world and subsequently became a worldwide sensation. The movie is so popular that Hollywood has already acquired the rights to remake it. Now here lies the biggest question: What makes TROLL HUNTER such a phenomenal sensation? Upon finally watching it, it's easy to see why. TROLL HUNTER is unlike any found-footage genre movie you mostly expected from the Hollywood counterparts. Sure, found-footage genre nowadays are very typical but Norwegian director Andre Ovredal manages to put a fresh spin in TROLL HUNTER by spicing up the famous Scandanavian folklore about troll and mixing it with horror, adventure and comedy. Best of all, it's the first found-footage movie where you don't have to suffer nausea from the ever-distracting shaky cam movements. As good as it looks, I still feel TROLL HUNTER is a highly overrated movie. More on that later.

The movie follows three ambitious student filmmakers, consisting of journalist Thomas (Glenn Erland Tosterud), sound recordist Johanna (Johanna Morck) and cameraman Kalle (Tomas Alf Larsen), embark on a long journey into the most region of Norway to locate a notorious bear poacher who's been making headline of killing a lot of bears. But the so-called "bear poacher" and all the bear killings turn out to be an elaborate disguise after all, especially after they manage to confront the particular person named Hans (Otto Jespersen). They also subsequently learns that Hans is actually a "troll hunter", who works for a secret government agency to cover up the existence of these gigantic monsters from public consciousness. After a few hiccups earlier on, they finally granted permission to follow Hans all along to film as much footage as they can. During their ongoing mission, they find out that Hans carries an enormous UV light capable of stopping the trolls dead in its tracks. In order to survive from troll attacks, they need to rub their bodies with troll's stench to render them invisible. So far so good until they eventually learn the increasing level of danger they're getting themselves into.

Before I go further about how overrated this movie actually is, let me say that TROLL HUNTER is technically impressive which rivals the one we see in a bigger-budgeted Hollywood monster movie. Director Andre Ovredal and his talented set of crew make great use of the majestic scenery surrounding the Norwegian landscape, while the special effects work is especially top-notch. The CGI-created troll looks convincing enough that blends well with the live-action surroundings it's almost like watching JURASSIC PARK (1993). Ovredal also good in creating tension and exciting action set-pieces. Among them are the first encounter with the three-headed troll, the nail-biting confrontation between Hans and the troll on a remote bridge, and the climactic showdown on top of a desolate snowy mountain which ends with a dramatic chase scene it immediately recalls the same level of excitement I used to watch the final scene in GODZILLA (1998). Apart from that, the filmmakers also make fantastic use of sound as their grunts, snorts, growls and footsteps echo through the hills. That's not all, I'm particularly pleased with the choice of cameraworks (including clever use of night-vision mode) here. Sure, there are few shaky cams every once in a while but at least the filmmakers ensure we are able to witness the action without resulting into some kind of distraction it's hard for the viewers to keep track what is going on all the while.

The cast are all excellent, especially the lead performance by virtually unknown Otto Jespersen. In fact, he's a scene stealer each time he appears. He has that effective mix of veteran grit and world-weary look that makes his overall deadpan performance entertaining enough to watch for.

Now being a hybrid movie can be a good thing if things are done right. By contrast, TROLL HUNTER is actually succeeded admirably but I can't help feeling it the tone is inconsistent. The movie suffers from a few patchy pace that drags the momentum, while some of the dry humors feel largely muted. It's a bit overlong as well, despite clocking at a reasonable 100 minutes especially most of the scenes feel predictable.

TROLL HUNTER is hardly a cinematic masterpiece one might have expected, but at least it is clear that Norway has its exciting way to make the kind of entertaining blockbuster normally associated to Hollywood.

Hrithik Roshan's reality show finale Fillied with Actress

Actors Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma have come onboard for Hrithik Roshan's reality show finale

Interestingly, two Bollywood heroines who have not starred with actor Hrithik Roshan in any film till date have joined hands to make his reality show finale a memorable one. Actors Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone will be two of the four stars who have agreed to dance with Hrithik in the finale of his reality show. Priyanka Chopra, who has done Krissh, and is now doing Agneepath is also schedule to shoot with him for his reality show.

"Hrithik wants his finale to be a memorable one and that is why he has asked some of his friends if they can come and dance with him on his show. The first ones who readily agreed to his request were Priyanka and Deepika. Anushka also later communicated that she will also come and shoot with Hrithik," says a source.
Interestingly, Priyanka has not shot with Hrithik as yet while Anushka and Deepika have not yet signed a movie opposite him.

"They will start rehearsing very soon for the show and Hrithik is very happy with them because they were the first to respond. Hrithik has been very pally with them off late despite the fact that they haven't signed any film together. The audience have not seen them together and hence all the pairings are fresh. Right now, the shoot schedules are being sorted out and Hrithik wants to showcase a finale of a stature that has never happened before. However, the girls will shoot with Hrithik separately and hence they won't be together in any frame," the source adds.
