Vijayakanth arrested for black flag demo against PM Manmohan Singh

Actor,DMDK founder and Opposition leader Vijayakanth along with his over 200 of his party workers were arrested today(Dec 26) after they tried to stage a black flag demonstration against Prime MinisterManmohan Singh over the issues of Mullai Periyar Dam and Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project.

Vijayakanth and his party workers were arrested at Saidapet area in the city, the route taken by PM Manmohan Singh this morning to attend a function at Madras University. The Prime Minister had arrived here last evening and stayed overnight at the Raj Bhavan. He attended a function at Madras University today to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of mathematics wizard Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Condemning what he called the “biased and step-motherly” treatment meted out to Tamil Nadu by the central government on various issues, Vijayakanth said, “The Centre has not done anything to protect the interests of the state, be it on the attacks on fisheremen by Lankan Navy,Koodankulam Nuclear Power Projec, Mullaiperiyar dam row with Kerala and Cauvery issue. It (the centre) had always adopted an indifferent attitude toward Tamil Nadu on all issues”.

“Why should the Prime Minister visit the state at all when he fails to respect the feelings and the pleas of the people of the state”, he charged, adding the visit would in no way help the state in the Mullaiperiyar row.

Dhanush-India’s most wanted man!

Not many delve into the depth of this simple, yet meaningful line, but Dhanush does.

He’s been living out of suitcases, travelling to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore. His schedule is choc-a-bloc and everyone wants a slice of the Kolaveri star these days.

When he’s not working, Dhanush is opening new stores, launching products or having dinner with the most powerful people in India.

On Tuesday (Dec 28) Dhanush is the special invitee for the state dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda at his 7 Race Course Road residence in New Delhi!

On Saturday, Dec 24th, Dhanush launched Nokia Lumia smartphones in Kolkata where he said: “I am open to singing any language song. Kolaveri Di has opened lots of doors for me, so I am deciding which door to choose. Kolaveri became a hit because of three reasons- English part connected everyone, the humour in the song and the content, which is common with the youngsters.”

From Kolkotta, the actor flew to the capital , where he is hosting a show for National television on Monday and later on Tuesday he will be present at a state dinner .

It can’t get bigger than this for our own Dhanush, who was lucky to get a call from none other than Ratan Tata, personally calling him up and having him over for a meal at home or Shahrukh Khan singing Kolaveri for his fans who requested him, while he was on Don-2 Promotions on NDTV on Sunday night.

Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan,Abhishek and Aishwarya met him at their home.

Rajini lends wedding hall for anti-corruption fast: IAC

Pledging his support to anti-graft initiatives, superstar Rajinikanth has lent his sprawling marriage hall here free of cost for the three-day fast being organised by Team Anna activists for a strong Lokpal Bill.

“We are organising a three-day fast from tomorrow. We had approached him for support. He (Rajinikanth) accepted it and said he was always for anti-corruption,” India Against Corruption’s (IAC) Central Core Committee member M.S. Chandramohan said today.

The Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in the heart of the city in Kodambakkam locality here will be the venue for the fast being held from tomorrow to express solidarity with social activist Anna Hazare, who is beginning his fast in Mumbai.

“He (Rajinikanth) offered it free of cost and said it was his service to the country,” Chandramohan said.

Asked whether Rajnikanth would visit the venue during the fast, Chandramohan said, “He is always invited. But, he has not said anything on that possibility so far.”

Don 2’ has totally collected Rs. 30.39 crore nett in 2 days

Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra starrer ‘Don 2’ which is released on December 23rd had seen a good second day the box office.

‘Don 2’ Hindi version has collected Rs. 14.69 crore nett, Telugu version collected Rs. 30 lakhs and Tamil version has collected Rs. 10 lakhs on the Saturday.

And including the entire three version the film has approximately collected Rs. 15.09 crore nett in the 2nd day.

Anirudh in KSR Bollywood film?

The director K.S Ravikumar who successfully completed 20 years in South is now going to Bollywood. KSR will soon be remake the Tamil super hit film ‘Saamy’.

Latest buzz is that the high riding composer Anirudh Ravichander of “Kolaveri Di” song is going to score music for the film.

KSR says that “He will be directing his first Hindi film with Sanjay Dutt in lead role and it will be remake of Vikram starrer ‘Saamy’. He is also plans to cast Amitabh Bachchan in an important role, but they are yet to approach him.”

He adds that “He is in talks with Anirudh to score music for the film. We had an informal chat about this film, but nothing has been finalized yet.”

The Hindi flicks will go on floors in April 2012.

Vijay to encounter with a Mumbai baddie

For Billa 2, director Chakri Toleti relied more on the Bollywood sprints for the baddie roles. Hence he imported more than three artists for the destitute roles. This has been insisted by Ajith too. Now Vijay starrer Thuppakki, directed by AR Murugadoss is on the floors around the Mumbai locales.

Having sensed the local charm and the native relics, both ARM and Vijay have decided to instill more effect on villainy. For this they have picked Gautham Kurup who won fame for his thumping performance in Kandhahar. This has made Gautham more happy to work along with the star from Kollywood. He expressed his joy on having been associated with ARM, since he has been longing for such occasion since Ghajini.

Though there is no official buzz nor any sneaks about the story of the movie, it is learnt that ARM is aiming on a theme of national importance. This could be the mixture of Mani Ratnam’s Roja, Kamal’s Unnaipol Oruvan and Thala’s Mankatha, it is believed.

Oomai Vizhigal Remake title Moongil Vizhigal

The old movie of Vijayakanth, Oomai Vizhigal was asked for a remake under the same title. The proposal came from the director Vincent Selva of Piriyamudan, Youth and Iraniyan fame. He said he wanted to remake the movie based on the current trend.

The film was a massive hit for Vijayakanth as the then director Aabavaanan crafted the story with social message. Selva hinted that there had been a major hitch in captivating the captain movie. Aabaavaanan was not instantly agreeable to the project and Selva has no other option than to go for a fresh story with new title. Hence he is on the foray of creating an all new script under the title Moongil Vizhigal.
He revealed that the main cast is likely to include Sarath Kumar and Karthik may be roped in for the heroic deeds. With Santhanam for humor and Thambi Ramaiah for the character role, Selva said two heroines from Pune and Mollywood will fill in the slots. Thozhvi Nilayena Ninaithal, Vincent padam edukka mudiyuma.

Ajith’s New Year Celebrations in Singapore!

It is always a habit among the film heroes to take a formal break after a tiring schedules of movies. On such occasions their main source of relief will be the family or friends. Even after Velayutham’s release, Ilayathalapathy Vijay made a foreign visit with his family. Surya went to South Africa taking his wife Jyothika and his children.

STR made a trip along with his director of Vettai Mannan. Now it’s Thala Ajith’s turn. After a long reel of being a workworm for his Billa 2 he is leaving to Singapore for the New Year Celebrations. Accompanied by his wife Shalini and daughter Anooshka, Thala will be enjoying his holidays there for a week. Back home he will have the tables turned for his next project with Vishnuvardhan.
This film is to be produced by AM Rathinam. In the meantime , Ajith will involve in the post –production work for Billa 2. Ajith is very conscious about Billa 2 that SRK’s Don 2 has already hit the screens. So the pressure is more on the director Chakri Toleti. It is an expectation from the fans of Ajith as well the audience that Billa 2 should better Don 2.

Dhanush to do it for AR Rahman?

Dhanush is really coming into his own not just as an actor but a singer as well. He is receiving lots of offers to lend his voice for songs in all languages. Even AR Rahman was impressed with Kolaveri di. The upshot is that Bharath Bala who has made many music videos for Rahman wants Dhanush in his Vande Mataram video.

Kamal Haasan was the original choice but he was tied up with his magnum opus, Vishwaroopam. Dhanush was quite excited by the idea as he is a big fan of AR Rahman and said that he would love to do it.

3 Audio Launch Dhanush style!

A bunch of youngsters will not be able to forget what they witnessed yesterday (December 23, 2011). The venue was the St George's school grounds where Aishwarya Dhanush's upcoming film '3's audio launch took place. The event was a huge success, not in terms of big names present but for the crowd that had grouped at the spot.


Dhanush was present clad in a white Armani and beside him was the woman of his life, wife Aishwarya. The couple looked attractive and entertained the gathered. They sang and danced. The crowd went crazy when Dhanush sang and performed for 'Kolaveri Di...' The man behind the music of '3,' Anirudh, was also present. Dhanush, in his own style, has a way of getting the pulse of the audience and he re-created the magic again.


As if Dhanush's ticklers weren't enough Siva Karthikeyan and Aadhavan were the hosts of this event and they were in their best elements! This duo made the crowd roar in laughter with their funny one-liners and comments. They also did their usual dose of mimicry, mimicking Bhagyaraj, Vijayakanth and TR on how it would be if these film personalities were to croon the soup song Kolaveri.


There was a laser show and a lot of music and dancing. And when time came for the music CD to be released, Dhanush asked his wife to pick three young men and women randomly from the crowd. These '3' pairs along with Kasthuri Raja, his wife and mom-in-law Latha Rajinikanth unveiled the music CD of the Dhanush, Shruti Haasan starrer '3' in the presence of the crew members of '3'. All this fun that took place during the audio launch of 3 will be telecast on Sun TV soon...


The album of '3' comprises of a m�lange of foot tapping numbers and some soft melodious songs sung by Vijay Yesudas, Mohit Chauhan, Shwetha Mohan, Anirudh, new singers Satya Prakash and Ajeesh. Yet another highlight is that all songs except one have been penned by Dhanush and the remaining one has been penned by Aishwarya.
