So called Ajith's Mankatha a Super-Hit!

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/294205_253696094671050_139440322763295_798621_4296923_n.jpgActor Ajith’s latest film ‘Mankatha’ has opened to a tremendous response from his fans and the general public. The film is the landmark 50th film in his career spanning close to two decades. Ajith’s last couple of films in ‘Aegan’ and ‘Asal’ didn’t do as well as his fans would have expected and as such, the clamour among his fans in anticipation of the release of ‘Mankatha’ was something that was seen to be believed.

The rates of the few tickets which were sold in ‘black’ on the opening two days were almost equal to that of superstar Rajini’s ‘Enthiran: The Robot’. Reports say that fans and the public didn’t think twice in dishing out money to the tune of Rs.300 to Rs.500 for a single ticket to watch the film on the first two days. The fact that Ajith is playing a full-time ‘negative’ role for the first time has only upped the craze of his fans.

Trade circles point out that the collections in the first two days was a whopping Rs.2.8 crores, which augurs well for the film’s run at least for the next couple of weeks. Everything points out to the film becoming a super-duper hit in the coming weeks. The moment Sun Pictures entered the fray and made it clear that ‘Mankatha’ would be released on 31st August, at least 2-3 films which were lined up for release on 2nd September have now been postponed by a fortnight to escape the ‘onslaught’ of Mankatha.

The films which now eye 16th, 23rd and 30th September as release dates are ‘Aayiram Vilakku’ starring Sathyaraj, Shanthanu and Sanaa Khan and directed by the newly wed Hosimin, debutant director Saravanan’s ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’ starring Jai, Sharvanand, Anjali and Ananya, ‘Murann’ starring (and co-produced by) Cheran and Prasanna and dircted by Rajan Madhav, ‘Vaagai Sooda Vaa’ directed by Sargunam and ‘Vellour Maavattam’ starring Nandha and Poorna in the lead and directed by Manohar.

The Jiiva-Tapasee starrer ‘Vandhan Vendraan’ is likely to hit the screens on 16th September.

Prabhu Deva's 'Step Up 3D' movie

http://www.metromasti.com/articleImage,300,2010/11/20/news_image/2068-prabhu-deva-02.jpg
There was a recent news item that Prabhu Deva is going to a 3D dance film in Hindi based on the popular ‘Step Up’ series (scroll down for the news).

It’s too early to talk about the 3D film -- Prabhu Deva
The film is to be directed by Remo Fernandez who himself has confessed that he had wrote the story with Prabhu Deva in mind.

However, when we checked up with Prabhu Deva, he said: “ Remo Fernandez is a close friend and we had a preliminary talk about it. It’s too early to talk anything about it as , as I am very choosy about the films I act. At the moment I’m happy directing films and my hands are full.”

The company which is producing the film has also told Remo “to make it with a saleable young Bollywood star who is into dancing.”

Prabhudeva going to US for 'quiet' meeting with Madhuri Dixit
Star dancer-filmmaker Prabhudeva is planning a quiet meeting with Madhuri Dixit in her hometown Denver, which sources say is a bid to convince her to dance with him in his comeback film.
Prabhudeva, after his controversial marriage with South actor Nayanthara, will star again in a film after a long gap. The film is said to be inspired by the Hollywood hit Just Dance. Sources say that it might be his last Bollywood film in which he plays the lead.

“Prabhu will have a quiet meeting with Madhuri next month, where they are planning to discuss as well as recount the song that they danced in (Que Sera Kera in Pukaar) 11 years back. He wants to  revive the same magic on screen once again,” says a source.
Madhuri has apparently told that she ‘will think about it’ and in all probabilities, might make  a cameo appearance in the film.

“Prabhu will be auditioning the original heroines of Step Up (Briana Evigan of Step Up 2 and Sharni Vinson of Step Up 3). At the same time, it will be great if Prabhu gets to dance in a number with Madhuri Dixit. He’s also scheduled to hold some dance class workshops there. In between the auditions and the workshops, he will take a two-day break to travel to Denver,” says the source.
Sources say that the  film is probably going to his last acting assignment.  “Prabhu is leaving no stone unturned for the film as he knows that his opportunities as a hero has become limited,” says the source.

Buzz is the actor will star in Bollywood's first 3D dance movie along with a lead actress from the 'Step Up' series
Our desi Michael Jackson Prabhudeva will in all probability be making an acting comeback in Bollywood's first-ever 3D dance film. And that's not all! The film will also star one of the girls from the popular Hollywood film series Step Up.

Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson are vying for a spot in the untitled film, directed by another ace dancer Remo D'Souza. "I have been approached for the film, but nothing is confirmed yet," is all that Prabhudeva is willing to let on at the moment.

Biggest fan
However, a thrilled Remo says, "I've been a Prabhudeva fan ever since my teen years. When I wrote this story, I only imagined him in the film. I wanted the best dancer for the film and who better than him. This is my attempt to achieve something as big as the best Hollywood dance movie."

Briana Evigan and Sharni Vinson

A source adds, "The makers were considering roping in Briana (Step Up 2) or Sharni  (Step Up 3D), but to their surprise both the actresses have shown interest in the film. Now the producers have to zero in on one of these hotties." And Remo reiterates, "Yes, we are talking to the Step Up girls. Let's see what works out."

Composers Sachin and Jigar are working on the music of the film (produced by UTV Motion Pictures), which is scheduled to go on the floor by the end of this year. Prabhudeva is currently shooting his directorial next Rowdy Rathore with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.

7am Arivu Audio launch shifted from Singapore to Chennai

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lyfT6jSDCkk/Tk927hcTwfI/AAAAAAAAAEc/_JFtt4KPxrE/s1600/293568_267028539991059_100000517462485_1175419_6575340_n.jpg ‘7am Arivu’, starring Suriya and debutant Shruti Haasan and directed by A.R. Murugadoss is all set to enthrall Suriya’s fans on Deepavali this year. The mega-project film is hitting the screens worldwide on 26th October. The film has music by Harris Jeyaraj and has been produced by Udhayanidhi on behalf of his Red Giant Movies.

Suriya plays the triple roles of a Circus artiste, Buddhist Monk and a scientist. Interestingly enough, all the tree characters are shown to be living in different periods of time in scintillating backdrops. In particular, his Monk character has been designed as a disciple of Lord Buddha who takes the martial art form of Kalari to China. The scientist role that Suriya plays is a contemporary one who ‘tests’ the Time Machine invented by a colleague (Shruti Haasan).

Shruti plays a scientist affected by cancer in the film. Murugadoss, known for his innovative ways of film-making, has mixed a heady dose of science, fiction, history, romance and action with computer-generated graphics and has presented the film in his own inimitable style. For the first time in his career, Murugadoss has made optimum use of computer-generated graphic works.

The film’s audio launch, which was scheduled to be held in Singapore on 10th September, was then postponed to 22nd September and the venue shifted to Malaysia. The latest info, though, is that though the date of 22nd Sept. remains unchanged, the venue has been shifted from Malaysia to Chennai for a variety of (untold) reasons. Another slight disappointment for Suriya’s fans would be that he won’t perform ‘live’ on stage the Circus aerobics that he has so painstakingly performed in the film.

After ensuring that those watching 'Mankatha', the 50th film of 'Thala' Ajith, have a hair-rising experience, director Venkat Prabhu has lost all his hair now. Yes, we mean it literally, as we reported earlier here.

The captain of the ship of 'Mankatha', who was sporting long hair and beard all these days as part of his prayers to Lord Balaji of Tirupati, tonsured his head on the holy Tirumala hills on Thursday.

Venkat Prabhu is an ardent devotee of Lord Venkateswara and it was his prayer to the Almighty that he would offer his hair if Mankatha becomes a hit. Since the film was declared a blockbuster on the first day itself, the director, who went to Tirupati for the marriage of his cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja, was happy to go bald,' say sources.

Accolades are pouring in for Venkat Prabhu from all possible quarters for making 'Mankatha' an 'extremely enjoyable experience'. The happiness of Ajith fans can't be expressed in words, as they hail the director for giving the best ever 'Thala' film.

Likewise our actors and actresses too have their very own hobbies and one such hobby of actress Trisha has been revealed. The actress loves to collect bonsai plants apart from spending time with her pets. Whenever she goes for overseas trips, Trisha makes sure that to bring new varieties of Bonsai plants. This has been revealed by Trisha to a popular daily recently. Not only that she also knew the needs of each variety. She takes care of each of the plants and knows exactly what is needed for them and what is not.

Currently the actress is in plans of shifting her Bonsai plants to a more airy place, where she can take care of them in a better and more organized ambiance as the number of Bonsai plants are increasing. She is basking on the success of Mankatha where she shared the screen with Thala Ajith. Though her character Sanjana appears for a short span but undoubtedly she has done well within her limits.
