KollyInsider's Birthday wishes to Kushboo

 

Kushboo is celebrating her birthday today. The actress, married to director Sundar C, began her career as a child artiste and went on to scale greater heights particularly in the Tamil film industry.

She has starred with almost all top heroes including Rajinijkanth, Kamal Haasan, Karthik, Prabhu etc., during her heydays as heroine. Kushboo entered politics by joining the DMK in 2010 and remains a loyalist to the party till today.

She is actively involved both in politics as well as in cinema today. Kushboo has also appeared in several television shows, the most popular among them being the Jackpot in Jaya TV.

Ace director-actor SA Kannan no more

 

Ace director-cum-actor of Tamil cinema, SA Kannan who has many evergreen hits to his credit passed away due to a massive cardiac attack. The 82 year old man had acted in small roles in legendary Tamil films like ‘Parasakthi’ and ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’.

He also directed emotional dramas featuring Sivaji Ganesan, like ‘Vietnam Veedu’ and ‘Thangapadakkam’. He has also directed full-length feature films like ‘Sathyam’ and ‘Geetha Oru Sembagapoo’.

The director has three sons and a daughter and passed away in his sleep due to a cardiac arrest. KollyInsider offers its condolences to his near and dear ones.

​Bala booked GV Prakash for his next

The most talked about director in Tamil cinema Bala is all set to start his next film.

Bala has signed upcoming star Atharava as hero and GV Prakash to provide music. It will be another milestone in GV Prakash's career.


The wonder boy has been accepted as leading music director in 2011 with hits like Aadukalam, Deivathirumagal and Mayakkam Enna albums. Now being chosen by Bala is another feather on his cap.
It is a big ticket for upcoming actor Atharva.

Remember Bala films are always script driven. His films have provided the right launch pad for actors like Vikram, Suriya, Arya and Vishal to be accepted as class actors.

Similarly Atharva is going to go places with Bala's new film.

Vijay to romance Sameera for Yohan : Adhyayam Ondru?

Gautham Menon though being busy shooting for his forthcoming trilingual Neethane En Ponvasantham, seems have roped in heroine for his next project with Vijay tilted Yohan Adhyayam Ondru.

According to the sources it is revealed that Gautham has roped in his favourite actress Sameera Reddy as female lead opposite Ilayathalapathy Vijay in this big-budget venture.  But Gautham want to keep it under wraps as he first wanted to complete his on going trilingual project before focusing on Yohan Adhyayam Ondru. It s also revealed that the actor is happy to share the screen space with Sameera.

This will be Sameera's third project with Gautham Menon as her earlier films were Varanam Aayiram and Nadunissi Naaygal. Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru will move on floors during summer of 2012, and will probably release for Pongal 2013.

The technical cast would be AR Rahman for music, Manoj Paramahamsa for cinematographer, Rajeevan for art direction and Antony for editing.

Gautham's production house Photon Kathaas will be producing Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru.

7am Arivu release in Chennai theaters list

For all you Suriya fans here is the list of the theaters that will screen the most awaited film of the year Suriya and Shruti Haasan starrer 7am Arivu. Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has come out with the list of the screens to eager fans!

Engeyum Eppodhum team gets kudos from Aamir Khan

 

We have recently read about Perfectionist Aamir Khan's eagerness to watch AR Murugadoss' forthcoming movie 7aam Arivu. The latest we hear is that the Bollywood actor has seen the filmmaker's production movie Engeyum Eppodhum and congratulated the team for making such a wonderful film.

Sources say that Aamir Khan recently saw Engeyum Eppodhum. Especially, he was impressed by the narration of the film. He reportedly told AR Murugadoss that he liked the way the story was formed in a simple yet unique way. Later, he took Saravanan's number and congratulated the young director. Reports also claim that the Bollywood star might take the rights of the film and remake it in Hindi.

Engeyum Eppodhum tells the tale of two couples and how the story grips around an accident, which happens in their life. It features Jai, Sharwanand, Anjali and Anuya in the lead roles.

Jeeva launches GV Prakash's MUK single track

 

After the stupendous success of Ko, RS Infotainment offers its next film, titled Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal. The single track audio with music by GV Prakash Kumar was launched in Chennai.


Vega Music enters the market with this film, which is produced and directed by Elred Kumar and stars Atharva and Amala Paul. The single track was launched by Jiiva and has lyrics by Thamarai who was also present.

"It's a song about a lover giving presents to his lady love. But the lyrics I wrote were obsolete since the gifts I imagined are not in vogue with the youth these days! So the producer arranged for a day out at the malls for me, and I went around Citi Centre, Express Avenue, etc to see for myself what all the items on sale are and what the youthful trend is these days. It's only after that outing that I re-wrote the lyrics and modernized the gifts!" said Thamarai

Jiiva praised the skills of Elred Kumar, saying that he had a flair and eye for spotting good scripts and was a man of many talents. "This script is a different and very contemporary one and is about mind games," Jiiva disclosed.

GV Prakash added, "This is a great year for me with the films I have done so far. This film is special because for the first time I have done a youthful album, for people my age, whereas usually I do folk or period films! It's a first romantic musical for me."

Kumar disclosed that since the story and screenplay were by him, after he had a fall out and difference of opinion with the original director, he decided to part on friendly terms and direct it himself.

For Atharva, this is his second film after Bana Kathadi and he has maintained a six pack look for the stunt scenes by Rajsekar. The camerawork is by Sakthi of Renigunta fame.

Nithya Menon reacts on KFPA ban, says she is innocent

Actress Nithya Menon who was banned by KFPA said that the ban on her is unfair and she is innocent. It is known that the producers have banned the actress for showing disrespect towards the top producers of Malayalam film industry by refusing to meet them for discussing on a film.

Speaking on this issue, Nithya Menon informed she was busy on the day with the shooting of her forthcoming film. Since the director has given her a small break she was having her lunch during the time senior producer has approached her and so the actress has asked her manager to look into it. "The producers have arrived on location to discuss on the project without early intimation. If they had informed me before I would have spared some time for them. How can I allocate the time on the shooting sets of other unit," says the actress.

Nithya further informs that the personal vengeance and egos are the reason for ban on her. Nithya Menon has been getting the support from all the quarters on this issue.

Viswaroopam completes 40 days of first schedule

Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam' shooting is going in full swing. The 40 days of first schedule has been completed today.

In the first schedule the portions of Kamal and Rahul Bose who is doing the role of deadly villain have shoot in the first schedule. Second schedule of the film will be take place at Los Angeles in USA for one month.

' Viswaroopam' was directed Kamal Haasan and it was produced under his home banner Rajkamal International. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is scoring music for the film. Isha Sharvani is doing the female lead role in the film.

Parvathy Omanakuttan to pair Ajith in Billa 2

Billa 2 which is progressing on a rapid speed has seen a change in the female lead due to the change in the script done by director Chakri Toleti. Huma Qureshi has been dropped from the film and now we hear that Parvathy Omanakuttan has been signed as the heroine alongside of Thala Ajith.

Parvathy Omanakuttan represented India in the 58th Miss World Final and won second place for the Miss World Top Model contest not just that she participated in Femina Miss India 2008 and won the Miss India World crown and also has won the title Miss India South 2008. Coming to her big screen debut she has worked for a Hindi film United Six directed by Vishal Aryan Singh and a Malayalam film titled Madan Kolli by Major Ravi.

Billa 2 will be her debut film in Tamil and sharing the screen space opposite Thala will sure give her a break in her career.

Billa 2 would focus on how David an ordinary man from Tuticorin of South Tamil Nadu, becomes Billa, a dreaded underworld don.

The film is jointly produced by IN Entertainment (India) Limited (INE) and Wide Angle Creations of Suresh Balaji and George Pius.

Sameera opposite Vijay?

Gautham Vasudev Menon, even as busy filming his first trilingual venture 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', seems to have zeroed in on the heroine for 'Yohan Adhyayam Ondru', his maiden film with Vijay.

If sources are to be believed, Gautham's 'favourite actress' Sameera Reddy would share the screen space with the Ilayathalapathy in this big-budget venture, which is set to hit the floors by early 2012.

"But an announcement is kept under wraps since Gautham wants to complete Neethane En Ponvasantham, before shifting focus to Yohan Adhyayam Ondru. Vijay too is happy to have Sameera on board," sources say.

Sameera was the leading lady of two of Gautham's earlier movies- 'Varanam Aayiram' and 'Nadunisi Naaygal'. In an interview earlier, the actress mentioned that she would act in a film without even listening to the script, if it is directed by Gautham.

Vijay Follows Suriya and Karthi in Telecom Advertisement

Acting in advertisement films is becoming a fad among the popular heroes of Kodambakkam. Super hero Suriya has been endorsing the telecom brand of Aircel while his brother has acted for Airtel brand. Now it is the turn of Vijay to endorse the brand of a popular telecom brand. Vijay has given his green signal to the company. He is being paid a whooping amount of Rs 5 Crores. Vijay has already acted in a jewelry commercial film as well as in aerated cool drink commercial film.

The shooting of Velayudham which has Vijay in the lead role is to hit the screens soon. The shooting of the film Nanban in which Vijay shares the screen with Jeeva and Srikanth is also nearing completion. The film which is being directed by Shankar is the remake of the super hit Hindi film 3 Idiots. Vijay has also been signed for the lead role in the film to be directed by Gowtham Menon for which he has been paid a salary of Rs 11 Crores.

Enchanting lyrics that attracts the lovers has been the mere secret of Thamarai’s success as a lyricist. The female lyricist has been winning laurels for her decorous style of writing that dates back from the time of ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, to ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ and a erotic song of ‘Maalai Mangum Neram’ in Rowthiram.

The audio launch of ‘Muppozhudhum Un Karapanaigal’ was held yesterday evening that was graced by Jeeva and Vetrimaaran. Speaking on the occasion, Jeeva was high on praises for Eldred Kumar, who makes his debut directorial with this film. RS infotainments is known for its fame of producing stupendous films like ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Ko’.

Thamarai while speaking about the song mentioned that it’s about a guy gifting his girlfriend with beautiful gifts. Since the gift articles she mentioned in the lyrics were literally old-styled, she was on a shopping spree across all the malls and finally came up the final version.

G V Prakash on his part mentioned that it’s a song close to his heart and it is a youthful album setting to be a treat for the youth cohort.

Aamir Khan watches 'Engaeyum Eppothum'

Besides going places, 'Engaeyum Eppothum' is taking those associated with it to places. The film was recently screened specially for Bollywood top actor Aamir Khan, who was awestruck after watching it.

"Aamir shares a special bond with AR Murugadoss, ever since the two came together for Ghajini. So he made it a point to watch the maiden production venture of the ace director," say sources.

"Following this, a special screening of Engaeyum Eppothum was held for Aamir. The film impressed him a lot. He congratulated Murugadoss for backing such a meaningful and quality venture," add sources.

Also, Aamir telephoned Saravanan, the director of the movie, and lauded him for conceiving a beautiful note and executing it as an interesting film. It is said that Aamir might remake 'Engaeyum Eppothum' in Hindi!

Vadivel heroine on her next film

Actress Monica who was seen in films like Imsai Arasu 23m Pulikesi and Nanjupuram is looking forward to her next film Varnam directed by debutant Raj. She plays a Maths teacher in the film and has chosen not to wear makeup to make the character more realistic.
Sampath will be seen in the film in a major character and is excellent according to the actress. Prem, the cinematographer of Pasanga has done a great job in this film, Monica revealed. She promised that Varnam will be a colorful and memorable film.

Different From Suriya, Jyothika & Gautham Menon

‘It’s a full-fledged mass entertainer for universal audiences’ says a versatile critic after walking out from the special show of ‘Force’ that was held last evening. The film that is a remake of ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, which created benchmark for Gautham Menon is getting is remade in Hindi as ‘Force’. Nishikanth Kamat is always for making films on unique note and style and this one isn’t going to be an exception.

While the plot of the film remains the same, rest of the factors have been completely changed that includes the characterization of John Abraham and Genelia D’ Souza. Over here, Genelia will be playing the role of a social activist while John has some modifications in the role as well.

Songs by Harris Jayaraj are moderate hits and he has retained the title track of ‘Uyirin Uyire’ as ‘Khwabon Khwabon’.

Priyamani's next hero

Priyamani's next project unfortunately is not in Tamil. She might be doing a Telugu film with the evergreen Venkatesh as she is on the shortlist for the heroine's role. The Telugu Superstar has almost wrapped up Boduguard with Trisha. His next film is with director Dasarath to be produced by Parachuri Kiriti.
The National award winning actress is currently filming Kshetram with Jagapathi Babu. She is also busy with two Kannada film Kho Kho and Veera Vishnuvardhana.

Radha wins an award

Yesteryear actress Radha married hotelier Rajasekaran Nair and has settled down in Mumbai. Their hotel group, Uday Samudra with branches in Kovalam,Trivandrum is a four star  hotel and was recently honored with an award at the World Leisure Hotels Awards held in Italy for the second time.
Radha was delighted and while addressing media persons, she said that she feels as though she herself has won an award!

Veteran director SA Kannan passes away

SA Kannan veteran actor and director of Tamil films passed away in his residence from a cardiac arrest. He was 82. The thespian had done small roles in films like Parasakthi, Pasamalar and Veerapandiya Kattabomman. He also did some plays with Sivaji Ganesan. As a director, he did Thanikudithanam, Sathiyam, Geetha Oru Sembagapoo etc.
The actor/director is survived by two sons, his wife Kamatchi having passed away recently. We convey our condolences to his loved ones.

Salman Khan back in India

Bollywood star Salman Khan is back in India after a month-long hospitalization and recuperation at a hospital in the US. Salman went to the US for surgery based on medical advice for the nerve disorder that he had been suffering from for the past couple of years.
He underwent a major surgery to set right the defect and the surgery was conducted by some of the best surgeons in the US. Salman reached Mumbai this morning from the US and there was near scramble to meet the star. However, the police intervened on time to set the situation right and some of Salman’s fans had to return home disappointed as they could not catch a glimpse of the star.
