Director Siva hit big time with Siruthai early this year. The film, which released on Pongal eve on 14th January, went on to become one of the most successful movies of the year which would be drawing to a close in about 4 weeks’ time. Starring Karthi in dual roles and Tamannaah, the film was a pure commercial venture and ran to packed houses for more than 100 days.
Santhanam’s comedy track in the film, which was woven along with the script, was one of the major factors of the film’s success. Thanks to the film’s success, Siva has now been roped in by a leading production house to direct an Ajith-starrer. Vijaya Productions, one of the oldest production houses in the country, would be producing Ajith’s next film which is as yet untitled.
Vijay Productions had produced legendary MGR’s hugely successful films like Enga Veettu Pillai and Nam Naadu besides superstar Rajinikanth’s Uzhaippali. The film starring Ajith in the lead is produced as a tribute to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary film-maker B. Nagi Reddy, who was the founder of the company.
A formal announcement about the film’s launch was made today at the Vijaya Studios in the city. Produced by B. Venkatrama Reddy and B. Bharathi Reddy, the film will have music by Ajith’s favourite music director in Yuvan Shankar Raja. Vetri would be the cinematographer of the film.
The shooting of the film is likely to commence in the second fortnight of January.
