It's been taking like forever since Wong Kar-Wai going to have his own take on Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man in the long-gestating THE GRANDMASTERS. Last year, THE GRANDMASTERS was reportedly to be scheduled for released sometimes in 2012. But are we really actually get to see it this year?
According to the latest reports from Hong Kong, we might probably get to watch THE GRANDMASTERS this year anyway. At least that is what the movie's lead actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, has recently said during promotion of his new Lunar New Year blockbuster THE GREAT MAGICIAN, cited the movie is now "close to completion".
However there is another report claiming that Wong Kar-Wai has requested Tony Leung to reshoot some of the scenes, and hoping to get the movie ready for a film festival (Cannes?).
In other report, Donnie Yen has recently cited that he won't be waiting THE GRANDMASTERS to be released in theaters to make IP MAN 3. In fact, he has been thinking about it and will start filming as soon as he has sufficient time and opportunity.
