Suriya:Jyothika to come back to films at appropriate time Posted: 30 May 2012 08:33 PM PDT Actor Suriya has hinted that his wife and actress Jyothika would make a comeback in films at an 'appropriate time'. Jyothika was a very successful actress and was at the height of her popularity when she sacrificed her career and got married to Suriya in 2006. After marriage, Jyothika has been busy with her family life and has taken a sabbatical from films.
Even as her fans are hoping to watch her back on big-screen, Jyothika had remained tight-lipped about her 'comeback' but continued to star in commercials. She also starred in a Malayalam film Seetha Kalyamam in 2009. Suriya's revelation that Jyothika might make a comeback to films at an 'appropriate' time has come as music to the ears of many of Jyothika's fans. "Jyothika is willing to act in films again. In fact, I have never asked to discontinue her acting career. The problem is that starring commercials keeps her away from the family hardly for a day or for a few days. On the other hand, shooting for films might keep her always from me and the children for a longer time, an eventuality which she is not prepared to face right now. "This is what has been keeping her away from films. As and when she feels that this is the right time for her to make a comeback, she would surely start acting in films," said Suriya. The couple has a son and a daughter in the form of Dev and Diya. Suriya:Jyothika to come back to films at appropriate time is a post from: KOLLY TALK,Tamil Cinema Portal |
After criticizing CSK, Dhanya Balakrishna quits Kollywood forever Posted: 30 May 2012 06:14 PM PDT Bangalore-based Dhanya Balakrishna is an upcoming actress who has played small and significant roles in films such as 7am Arivu and Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi. The actress, however, has gotten herself into neck-deep trouble following her disparaging remarks against the Chennai Super Kings team and its entry into the play-off round on her Facebook account.
CSK made it to the play-off round thanks to defeats suffered by three other teams, all contenders to make it to the final round. However, it demolished Mumbai and Delhi teams with lion-hearted performances before losing out to Kolkata narrowly in a high-voltage final held in Chennai last Sunday. Dhanya's remarks, which were taken note on on networking sites, have been sharp criticisms of CSK as she couldn't digest Team Bangalore's ouster from the IPL-V tournament. "Dear Chennai, you beg for water; we give! You beg for electricity, we give!. ur people come and occupy our beautiful city and kocha paduthify it, we allow and nw u were at our mercy to go to playoffs, n we let be!!. like this you begging – we giving! dai ungalukku vekkame illaya da??" were the unwarranted remarks recorded by Dhanya, which have been vehemently opposed by many in the past week or so. It is widely felt that she shouldn't have mixed politics and sport while regretting her Team's ouster. Facebook is full of messages condemning Dhanya who was shocked to find opposition of such a huge proportion. Following this, she has issued a statement saying "I have decided to quit Chennai and Kollywood. I earnestly hope this would bring a full stop to the issue. I don't have any future plans to come back to Chennai to star in Tamil films; I have even withdrawn from the already committed films." Surely, it's not Kollywood's loss! Vijay-Hansika for Rajini’s Annamalai remake? Posted: 30 May 2012 05:51 PM PDT Superstar Rajinikanth's mega-hit film Annamalai released as many as 20 years ago in 1992. Rajini, who played a milkman who becomes an industrialist in the film, redefined the art of starring in title songs in the film. Vandhenda Palkaran… sung by the ever-dependable and legendary SPB and set to music by Deva remains a huge hit even today. It is now rumoured that the film might be remade with Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the lead.
Rajini paired up opposite Khushboo in the film which created many box-ofice records and released prior to his another super-duper hit Baashah. Latest reports emanating from Kollywood say that a proposal is being floated by a producer who wants to remake the Rajini-hit with Vijay reprising Rajini's role. Rajini's screen presence is matched by none and in that sense, it is skeptical as to whether Vijay would be able to do even half of what Rajini did. Hansika, who paired up opposite Vijay in the hit film Velayudham which released late last year, is said to be in the reckoning to play Vijay's heroine in the remake version. She would have to reprise the role essayed with aplomb by Khushboo in the original version. When asked about the remake effort, Vijay said that he hasn't heard anything about the 'remake' effort. "This is news to me; I too read about it in websites and am not sure about it," was Hansika's reply when queried as to whether she has signed up the film. Sonam Kapoor irked at depicting women as sex-objects Posted: 30 May 2012 05:05 PM PDT Young Sonam Kapoor is a popular Bollywood actress and daughter of Anil Kapoor, one of the few heroes from Bollywood who sport moustaches. In the field now for close to thirty years, Anil Kapoor has starred in many films opposite the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi and has starred in many Hindi remakes of Tamil films starring Bhagyaraj and our own superstar Rajinikanth.
Anil has given complete freedom to his dear daughter who wanted to pursue a career in Bollywood a few years back. Sonam, whose brains match her beauty, has the habit of making her mind known on issues of social concern. Her latest regret is the way Hindi films have been depicting women (read actresses) for years together as mere 'sex-inciting objects' and not as inspiring or courageous women. Bollywood films have a long history of going overboard in kissing and intimate sequences. It's in this context that Sonam's remarks assume significance. Sonam was in Cannes recently to take part in the annual film festival. Speaking to reports on the sidelines, Sonam has said "It's indeed regrettable the manner in which women are depicted in Hindi films: they have been shown in a vulgar and obscene manner and as sex-toys who are fit for nothing. "Skin-show is imposed in many films. I'm basically a feminist and get angred by such meaningless depicting of women. Seeing the prominence 'bra' gets in Hindi films and songs, at times I feel like burning my own bra," says Sonam and adds that 'item number' songs have become an inseparable thing in films of late. "Even these songs are full of vulgarity. I'd never perform 'item numbers' in films; that's for sure," she concludes. Posted: 30 May 2012 05:27 AM PDT Changing names has been a favorite game with Kollywood heroines. Many have had success befriending new names while for others keeping it original worked the best. Charming Nandagi, who acted in Aval peyar Thamizharasi too joins the name changing list.
Amala Paul, who is enjoying a good run in Kollywood presently had a curious case. She changed her name to Anakha for Sindhu Samaveli, that flopped at the box office. And then came Mynaa's success as she reverted to her original name, earning her the sweet spot in Kollywood. Actress Nandagi too wants to grab success by it's throat, going for a new name. Ajith’s next to star Tollywood’s Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja Posted: 29 May 2012 09:59 PM PDT It is strongly rumoured in some sections of the press that Ajith's upcoming untitled venture would be a multi-starrer on the lines of his landmark 50th film Mankatha which released last year and became a colossal hit. Ajith is presently busy with the post-production work of his upcoming film Billa-2 which has generated widespread curiosity and excitement, thanks to the film's theatrical trailer and news about Ajith's 'daredevil' helicopter-bound stunt sequences.
Vishnuvardhan, who gave Ajith a stylish look in the 2007 super-hit Billa, is re-uniting with Ajith in this unnamed Tamil-Telugu bilingual film which is being planned now. Ajith is paired opposite Nayanthara while Aarya and Tapasee Pannu would be the other pair in the film which also has the likes of Arvind Swamy and Prithviraj. It now turns out that Tollywood's Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja would also be part of the film. Nagarjuna and Ravi Teja are leading heroes in Telugu films and as such, it remains uncertain as to what sort of 'characters' have been visualized for them in the Ajith-starrer. The producer is apparently under the impression that the presence of Nag and Teja would help the film do well in Andhra Pradesh. Whether the two senior heroes would agree to play second fiddle to Ajith is also a point of contention. As the film hasn't yet gone to floors, it can't be guessed at present as to who would remain in the film's final line-up or whether more stars would be added to the film's cast. The film would be produced by Raghuram under his banner Sri Sathyasai Movies under the supervision of A.M. Rathnam. The muhurat is expected to be held on 31st May in Mumbai. Shriya to charge less for lead role in Kannada film Posted: 29 May 2012 09:39 PM PDT Shriya Saran, the actress who possesses an amazing hourglass figure, is quite happy to be getting an offer to play the lead role in a Kannada film for the first time in her decade-long career in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Shriya is always loved by her fans and the youths for maintaining such a slim and slender frame for close to 11 years in the industry now. The debut venture of Shriya in Kannada has been titled as Chandra.
Shriya is said to be getting somewhere in the region of Rs.70-80 lakh per film. However, she has reportedly decided to reduce her fee 'considerably' as she is aware that the Kannada film industryis not a lucrative one as the Tamil and Telugu film industries are. Though the details of her fee for the film Chandra aren't revealed, whatever fee Shriya might finally get would only be equal to that of Divya Spandana (Kuthu Ramya), who is a top actress in Sandalwood, the world of Kannada films. It turns out that Divya was the initial choice for the film but she refused citing 'personal reasons'. The choice then went to Amala Paul, Dia Mirza and Amrita Rao before falling on Shriya's lap. Shriya plays a princess in the film, which is directed by Roopa Iyer. Ramya Krishnan and playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniam are said to be playing significant roles in the film. Though Chandra marks the curvaceous Shriya's debut film as heroine in Kannada films, she has already starred in a Kannada film when she made a 'guest appearance' in the Punit Rajkumar-starrer Arasu some time back. Prabhudeva praises participants of dance reality show Posted: 29 May 2012 09:34 PM PDT Notwithstanding the turbulent personal life that Prabhudeva has been leading for the past 3-4 years, it remains an indisputable fact that there isn't a better dancer in the country than the bearded choreographer who has of late become a successful director too. As such, popular television channel Vijay TV has been hosting a dance reality show to unearth the 'next Prabhudeva' from the youths of Tamil Nadu. Titled Ungalil Yaar Prabhu Dheva (UYAP) (Who among you could be Prabhudeva?), the dance reality show has been one of the top programmes aired by this television channel. Vijay TV takes the cake in introducing and hosting various other entertainment oriented programmes which are plagiarized (albeit shamelessly) in 'another form' by a leading television channel which is unable to 'tolerate' the growth of Vijay TV.
Popular choreographers Sridhar and Gayathri Raghuram are the judges of the UYAP show which is in its second season. Prabhudeva took part as a special invitee in the show recently and was wholesome in his praise of the participants and at one point of time, he even remarked that he wondered whether he would be able to match the dance movements of some of the participants. "I learnt the nuances of dancing from my father. Dancing is my life and it's everything for me," said Prabhudeva who appeared visibly happy at the programme getting named in his honour. Vijay TV sure deserves appreciation for re-writing the trend that Sundays are meant merey for watching movies and not for any other programmes.
