Namitha surprises a newly-wed couple with gifts Posted: 04 Jun 2012 05:25 PM PDT Count on Namitha to do the unthinkable. The tall and sexy Namitha has unfortunately fallen out of favour with Tamil film producers, directors and her fans in a big way vis-à-vis her film commitments. However, she still remains one of the hugely popular actresses in the State. The many inaugural functions to which she is being invited on a regular basis all over the State are testimonies to this fact.
Namitha was traveling to Karur to take part in the inauguration of a poultry farm (she inaugurates many such outlets). After taking a flight from Chennai to Tricy, she then proceeded to Karur by a car from Trichy Airport. While the car was passing through the Mukkombu village in Trichy District, Namitha spotted a wedding taking place at a temple situated on the highways. She immediately asked her driver to stop the car and proceeded towards the temple where a wedding was going on in full-swing. Spotting Namitha at that remote place made both the families of the bride, bridegroom and others almost speechless. Taken over by a state of shock, they couldn't force themselves to react for a few moments. Namitha walked up to the couple, shook hands with the bride and the groom and wished them a very happy married life. She then handed over some cash as gift to the couple, posed for photographs with them and then returned back to her to proceed to Karur. The family of the unsuspecting bride and groom were still 'floating' in air as they least expected Namitha to arrive and present gifts to the couple. That's Namitha for you! Ajith visits Shirdi Saibaba’s Temple for vacation Posted: 04 Jun 2012 09:04 AM PDT ‘Thala’ Ajith does things in a very different manner than others and his peers in Kollywood. Post Billa and Mankatha, the actor has sort of become a 'style icon' in the industry. Despite his move in disbanding and dissolving all the fans' clubs operating in his name last year, his fan base appears to be remaining intact; the colossal success of Mankatha is proof enough of this fact.
Unlike actors and actresses who take off to cooler zones within the country and abroad, Ajith has his own unique way of winding himself up during holidays or whenever he feels like taking a break from the shoot of his films. The unwritten rule in Kollywood is that actors and actresses usually leave for vacation with their families, spend some time at their favourite destination to return back to Kollywood after a few weeks to resume work. Whenever he can afford some time to relax, Ajith immediately rushes to the Shirdi Saibaba's Temple in Maharashtra. Worshipping Saibaba peacefully, it seems, is the most favourite unwinding technique for Ajith who never misses out on his weekly visits to the Saibaba's Temple in Chennai whenever he shoots in the city. Some time back, his family members left for London for vacation while Ajith's commitments made him stay put back home in Chennai. Ajith is now looking forward first to the audio-launch and then then theatrical release of his Billa-2. In the meantime, he has already started shooting for his upcoming untitled film directed by Vishnuvardhan (of Billa fame) which has Nayantara, Aarya and Tapasee playing prominent roles. Censors and Government appreciate Krisnnaveni Panjaalai Posted: 04 Jun 2012 08:59 AM PDT The upcoming film Krishnaveni Panjaalai (KP) has been passed with an 'U' certificate by the Censor Board which recently viewed the film in Chennai. Directed by debutant director Dhanapal Padmanabhan, the film has also been granted exemption from 'entertainment tax' given by the local Government for films which depict Tamil culture in the best possible manner. The Govt. officials, who watched the film for the purpose of granting tax exemption, have gone on record that they felt 'overwhelmed' by the quality of the film and that the impact of the film would stay in their minds at least for the next few days. The appreciation by the Censors as well as the Govt. officials has generated a buzz about the release of the film, which has been delayed inordinately due to multiple reasons. Vairamuthu's Aalaikkari…Panjaalaikkaari number has already become hugely popular and is played out in many places across the State. The Un Kangal Kannadi… number, penned by Thamarai, has also come to be liked by music-lovers. Readers might be able to recall the fact that the film's audio was launched by former President Abdul Kalam a few months back. Aathadi…oru paravai Parakkudha.., another song from the film, has already entered the 'top 10' musical hits in countries like Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia. The soulful songs, which fit appropriately at the places where they have been placed by the director, have been set to music by Raghunandan, the music director of the national award-winning Tenmerku Paruvakkatru.
To promote the film for a television programme, the crew had been to the textile mill where the film had been shot last year. The workers surrounded the crew and were very eager to know as to when the film would be releasing as they feel that the film depicts realistically their travails. Before leaving the place, the crew assured them that the film would be releasing very soon in theatres. Lakshmi Rai in her swimming bathrobe – pic Posted: 04 Jun 2012 06:40 AM PDT Director A.L. Vijay has chosen a shimmering star cast for Vikram's Thaandavam. The film is a glamorous affair having South Indian hotties Anushka Shetty and Lakshmi Rai joined by British model Amy Jackson, throwing a red hot party.
Lakshmi Rai who shot to fame with back-to-back success stories in Mankatha and Kanchana had left for London to start shooting her portions for Thaandavam. The crew did have to face unexpected rainfall, but they were back on their heels soon. Fans already know that both Anushka and Amy have two different segments in the film all to themselves, pairing up with hero Vikram. When quizeed what role Lakshmi had the actress herself disclosed, she doesn't play Vikram's love interest but has a "very different role to portray." Being a star venture, she is hoping to raise her bar one notch up, signing up for the Vikram flick. Lakshmi, who had a photo shoot in her orange bikini bathrobe, looked sensational resting by the poolside enjoying her cup of piping hot coffee. Her role in Mankatha too was equally appealing, playing a double-minded lady who stole hearts more for her looks, than her commendable performance. Chk it out !
