Tata Motors confirms Nano CNG launch by Fiscal year 2012-13

Here is an happy news for all the those who have kept waiting for the CNG version of the Tata Nano. Tata motors has announced that the Nano CNG will be launched in India by the fiscal year. This means that the CNG version will be in India by March 2013.

The announcement is official as it was made after Tata Motors' fourth quarter result announcement for the fiscal year 2011-12. While showcasing it for the first time at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, the Nano CNG looked like a production Ready model. So, there could even be a preponement in the launch Nano CNG considering the current market trend.

Tata Nano CNG Price :

The Nano CNG is expected to priced above Rs 15 to 20,000 than the petrol version. Tata Nano will attract more buyers due to the CNG fuel which has the benefits of cheaper running cost. At the time when Tata Motors is delaying the diesel version of the Nano, the Nano CNG will be aright choice to target prospective Nano buyers in India.

Tata Nano CNG fuel options :

Nano CNG will be available with two fuel options, CNG and petrol. The driver can switch between the fuels just by a touch of a button placed on the dashboard.

Tata Nano CNG engine :

A 624cc twin cylinder engine which the petrol variant uses will be used in the CNG version as well with required modifications made to suit the CNG fuel. The CNG version will have a 35 liter CNG tank and a 15 liter petrol tank.

The power is distributed through a four-speed manual gearbox. In order to ensure that there is no power loss in the CNG version, Tata Motors have used the sequential injection. So there will be no lag in the power or torque capacities compared to the petrol engine version.

For ensuring safety, Tata Motors has given a leak detection system which will cut off the supply of CNG in case of mildest of leakage. The petrol version of the Tata Nano offers a mileage of 25.4 kmpl which is the highest among petrol cars in India, and the CNG version will make the running cost more cheaper. With the petrol prices being hiked by Rs 8 and above, the Nano CNG would have a warm welcome in the market.
