Studio Green backed-up Sun Pictures releasing Mankatha on Aug 31st

Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green, which acquired the theatrical and satellite rights of Ajith Kumar's Mangaatha, has surprisingly dropped the film. Now, Sun Pictures, which did not have any big releases in the recent past, is releasing the film on August 31.

Dhayanidhi Alagiri tweeted, “Mangaatha is not releasing under Studio Green banner,” But on the today's newspapers ads, where it shows that the production house is distributing the upcoming Tamil film, he clarifies, “Mangaatha ads have come under Studio Green banner today... We couldnt remove it before of the cut off time in the papers.”

On the other end, Gnanavel Raja says that he dropped Mangaatha due to some reasons. But refused the reveal why he opted out of the project.

However, Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja starrer Mangaatha has been be censored yesterday. The movie directed by Venkat Prabhu has passed the test with U/A certificate.

Studio Green's head Gnanavel Raja confirmed to a few media houses that Studio Green will not be releasing this much-expected film but did not elaborate on the reasons. (There are some talks & sources says the reason is satellite rights were sold to Sun TV) A few birdies say that Sun Pictures is keen on releasing 'Mankatha', handling the distribution and marketing.

Also, sources from Sun Network reveal that Sun TV has bagged the satellite rights of this biggie! This was earlier announced and Dhayanidhi rubbished them as rumours (above tweet), but the reports are now official.
